A team of ODF Media Champions in the Upper West Region have visited Jenjeri, an open defecation-free community in the Sankana Area Council of the Nadowli-Kaleo District.
The visit on 19th December, 2018 was meant to learn from the people of Jenjeri about their ODF trajectory and share the news with the rest of the world. It was the first visit of the Upper West Regional ODF Media Champions after a sensitization workshop for effective media collaboration for the ODF Ghana Campaign, which took place a day earlier.
Numbering about ten among other members of the Upper West Regional ODF Campaign Team, the media personnel had about an hour and half of interactions with the community members, after which they inspected a few household latrine facilities.
The Upper West Regional Campaign Team is expected to work more closer in a more formalized relationship for the ODF Ghana Campaign in the region. In this sense, the selected Media Champions are expected to be part of the Official Campaign Team to pursue a common campaign agenda and plan, while the individual journalists involved maintain their routine activities on sanitation.
The sensitization workshop and the field visit to Jenjeri was organized by the Upper West Regional Coordinating Council with support from UNICEF.
